Classroom Economy (primary management system):
Through My Classroom Economy, students learn valuable life skills in an experiential way. Specifically, they are able to:
•Take part in a simulation of real world economic activity.
•Learn the value of earning a paycheck, as they bank salaries from their jobs.
•Learn how to budget their spending, balance checking accounts, and make scheduled payments.
•Discover the importance of saving money to obtain what they want.
Students will be able to view class jobs and decide which positions they are interested in applying for. Each student will fill out job applications for their top 3 choices, stating what skills they possess and why they should get hired.
Each position is assigned a salary, based on the level of work and skills involved. After students are hired, they will sign a contract for the trimester. Students will get paid at the end of the each month. Rent for their desks is due on the first day of each month.
The class will also come up with a list of bonuses and fines. Students are responsible for keeping an accurate balance of all money. It is important that they record their salary, rent, fines, and bonuses in their own real check registers on a regular basis.
